About The StorePlease read this carefully to avoid disappointment ...If wishes were horses, all beggars would ride. When my kids were young I sometimes read to them from a book of traditional nursery rhymes and stories that I found in a used book store. I was constantly amazed at how harsh they were. Or maybe I should be saying realistic instead of harsh. I'm definitely not riding on wishes these days. I want The IMIM Store to be the coolest, most organized and generally best store anywhere. Unfortunately I don't have the resources to start the way I want. In fact, I don't really have the resources to get started at all. I think the world needs places like what I want The IMIM Store to be, so I'm not going to let that stop me. Effective March 6, 2010, the store is available for visiting Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm.. The IMIM Store 282 Harbor Way, Unit D South San Francisco, CA 94080 580-1390 (area code 650) -- call or text Google Maps gives good direction. There are no store signs at this time, but the store is behind the roll-up door just under the "282" building number sign. It is a really good idea to call ahead. Sunday 3/7: On Saturday I said that the store is nominally open but absolutely unready. I've been working all weekend and things are only marginally better, but still improving. I will be here all week. I am answering the phone. I can finally run credit cards. Sadly, that's major progress. On the other hand, I have very little merchandise on display. I have a reasonable number of shelf frames in place, so merchandise will be popping up little by little during the week. It should really be looking like a store within a few more days. I'll be posting my progress every few days. -- Al This is a rough industrial space with lots of rough edges, trip hazards and accessible power tools. It is a bad place to bring young children or dress-up clothes. I am working by myself at this time. If I don't know that you are coming I may run out on errands or rudely rush you to deal with other priorities. I recognize that this is a rotten way to run a "store", but its the only way I can open the store at all at this time. A more pleasant experience can be arranged by calling ahead. Feel free to call ahead and then drop by to say hello and tell me about your projects and what you think the store should be. |
